{"id":1694,"date":"2021-07-22T16:04:02","date_gmt":"2021-07-22T14:04:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oliena.it\/new\/eventi\/san-giovanni\/"},"modified":"2021-08-02T11:54:04","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T09:54:04","slug":"san-giovanni","status":"publish","type":"eventi","link":"https:\/\/oliena.it\/en\/events\/san-giovanni\/","title":{"rendered":"San Giovanni"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On June 24th, many youngsters get together on a horse at the prior\u2019s house to reach the Church of <em>San Giovanni<\/em>, an old country church a few kilometres from town, known ever since the XVI century.<\/p>\n<p>When they get there, a procession starts around the church, followed by a solemn mass.<\/p>\n<p>Once this is over, the <em>h\u00f9mbidu <\/em>takes place, a traditional banquet once thought for shepherds. Until the 40s of the last century, the horse riders going back to town would show their prowess by jumping a big fire where <em>s\u2019istatua <\/em>(statue) was burning \u2013 actually a puppet made of cloth.
