Le sue caratteristiche sono talmente particolari che si \u00e8 sviluppata nei secoli (forse persino nei millenni) secondo un suo percorso evolutivo sostanzialmente estraneo a quello della musica tonale, ossia quello della tradizione \u201ccolta\u201d occidentale.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Per capire cosa si intende sar\u00e0 sufficiente ascoltare un brano, magari eseguito da un gruppo di Oliena.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
La pratica del canto a tenore, che dal 2005 \u00e8 stata inserita dall\u2019UNESCO fra i Patrimoni orali e immateriali dell\u2019umanit\u00e0<\/em>, \u00e8 ancora viva, sentita e largamente praticata nel centro della Sardegna; e a Oliena sono numerosi gli uomini di tutte le et\u00e0 che si esibiscono in pubblico e in privato per il puro piacere che questa attivit\u00e0 \u00e8 in grado di regalare a chi la pratica, oltre che a chi ascolta.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Il tenore<\/em>, ossia il gruppo di quattro persone che esegue i brani, \u00e8 costituito da sa vohe<\/em> (la voce che \u201cguida\u201d), su basciu<\/em> (il basso), sa hontra<\/em> (la voce di contrappunto) e sa mesu vohe<\/em> (la voce dalla tonalit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 alta). I particolari suoni profondi, liquidi e metallici prodotti da bassu<\/em> e hontra<\/em> danno al tenore quel suo timbro inconfondibile che lo rende immediatamente riconoscibile anche dai neofiti.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Ogni paese presenta delle varianti locali e anche Oliena ha i suoi modi di cantare peculiari (modas<\/em>). Alcuni, quasi scomparsi, ma gelosamente custoditi da pochi anziani, sono oggetto di studio da parte dei pi\u00f9 giovani che vogliono recuperali al proprio gi\u00e0 ricco repertorio.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Sono stati molti gli uomini di cultura e i musicisti di tutto il mondo affascinati da questa forma espressiva, alcuni di loro, come Gabriele d\u2019Annunzio, hanno promosso le esibizioni di questi gruppi fuori dalla Sardegna, altri, come Peter Gabriel ne hanno prodotto e distribuito gli album, altri ancora, come Frank Zappa, oltre a darne un giudizio pi\u00f9 che lusinghiero, ne hanno usato le sonorit\u00e0 all\u2019interno dei propri brani.
